A Warrington Youngster has been unveiled as the winner of the Moore Foundation charity Golf Day. The Warrington charity held its annual golf day this year at Helsby Golf Course. A number of local businesses competed at the tough 18 hole golf course including World of Beds, Padgate Appliances and VRS Equipment leasing.
The Golfers were then entertained by one of Merseyside's finest Comedians Denny Waters before Moore Foundation Patron Dominic Walker unveiled the name of the Golf Day winner. Dominic who is a radio presenter on the Big City Network of Radio Stations thanked the Warrington Guardian for appealing to its readers to find individuals or smaller charities who could benefit from the money raised on the day before presenting Ben Callender from Warrington with a new wheelchair. Ben, who will be 8 in August suffers from Cerebal Palsy Spastic Diapligia and has been in need of a more substantial wheel chair however such specialist equipment is very expensive to buy and no funding was available to his parents. Dominic told the Guardian "after our appeal in the Guardian we felt that we should donate all of the proceeds of the golf day to Ben and make him the winner by purchasing him a new wheelchair. To see the smile on his face as we presented it to him and he proudly showed it off was obvious to all of the teams and made the day worth the effort"
The Moore Foundation's next major fundraising effort will be The Annual Ball on Saturday 25th October at The Park Royal Hotel in Stretton anyone wishing to purchase tickets or sponsor the event should telephone Nigel or Frank on 01928 59 77 42 / 01928 53 17 20.
The Moore Foundation is a charitable trust established to provide financial and practical relief to local childrens’ charities and worthy causes.
Proceeds are received via annual Summer Ball, The Moore Foundation Golf Day, Variety Evenings and general fundraising activities throughout each year.
